A final resting place - August 20th, 2017

Created by Linda 6 years ago
Today, re-united with the ashes of his true love, his wife, Billie, the ashes of Mike & Billie Brownjohn were returned to the sea at Brighton. A boat was chartered for the occasion and Linda, Paul, Matthew, Rebecca and Jason voyaged out to sea from Brighton Marina, on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning to escort the ashes to their final resting place.

We were so sorry to not have Maria - Matthew's lovely wife with us - but she was poorly, and hence, with us strongly in spirit.

The little fishing craft was buffeted about on the swell and the waves crashed up against the hull. Paul read the poem *Sea Fever' by Masefield and Rebecca and Linda read 'Crossing the Bar' by Tennyson (with some sobs), Matthew and Jason joined in with the Blessing and the scattering of flower petals from the gardens of Toft, after Linda had bid a final farewell and kissed the urn... and launched it into the sea ... to be forever at peace!

Mike and Billie, together at last forever in the place where they honeymooned in 1958... and probably conceived Linda - their only child.

Forever by the sea - with love ****
